Athens –Funeral services for Jimmy Edwards, 67 of Athens, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December, 28, 2014 at Crossroads Community Church in Tyler, Texas with Bro. Jerry Payne officiating.

Mr. Edwards passed away on Monday, December 22, 2014 in Athens, Texas.

Jimmy Dale Edwards was born July 3, 1947 in Dallas, Texas the son of James Leon Edwards and Thelma Jewel Lane Edwards. He was a member of the Crossroads Community Church in Tyler. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish. He enjoyed raising animals, his latest enjoyment being rabbits and hamsters. He spent countless hours going to the sale barn, auctions and watching his sons wrench on Classic Cars. “Poppy” especially loved his grandbabies; he was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Keith Edwards.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Kathy LupPlace Edwards of Athens; one daughter Dorothy Welch and husband Eric of Coppell; three sons, J.D. Edwards Jr. of Athens, Travis Edwards and wife Lindsey of Athens, Ethan Edwards of Athens; five grandchildren, Tori Mobley, Noella Welch, Taylor Welch, Zoey Edwards, Madelaine Edwards; one brother Larry Payne and wife Vicka of Farmers Branch; special nephew Jerry Payne of Tyler and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 1-2:00 P.M. at the Crossroads Community Church in Tyler, Texas.
