Obituary for James Patrick "Pat" O'Brien
Athens –Memorial services for James “Pat” O’Brien 67, of Athens, Texas are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Brother Joey Wallace officiating.
Mr. O’Brien passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015 in Athens, Texas.
James Patrick O’Brien was born November 21, 1947 in San Antonio, Texas the son of James P. O’Brien and Mary O’Brien. Pat was in the Telecom business for over forty years eventually becoming the installation supervisor for the state of Texas before retiring from Century Link. He was a collector of die cast model trains, planes, and cars; enjoyed wood working and just loving life. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed by all he knew and loved.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son Rodney Lee Porter.
He is survived by his loving wife Margaret O’Brien of Athens; three daughters, Kelly Frank and husband Todd of Houston, Sarah O’Brien of Seattle, Washington, Teresa Porter Harris of Athens; one son Russell “Rusty” Dale Porter and wife Melinda of Rockwall; one sister Margaret Ramirez of Three Rivers; eight grandchildren, Sterling Frank, Charlotte Frank, Dustin Harris, Daniel Harris, Matthew Porter, Brian Porter, Jonathan Porter, Porter Baker; and several great grandchildren.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
