Funeral Services for Max Logan will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 18, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Athens with Reverend Jason Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Cemetery under the direction of the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Family of Athens.

Mr. Logan passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016 in Athens, Texas.

Max Earl Logan was born on June 6, 1941in Altus, Oklahoma the son of Earl D. Logan and Avis G. Owens Logan. He attended Altus High School in Altus, Oklahoma and later graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Master’s Degree in Business. He taught school in Stigler and Ponca City, Oklahoma before moving to Athens, Texas where he was a Dean at Henderson County Community College/Trinity Valley Community College until his retirement in 2006. Max served as President of the Oklahoma Chapter of POA’s, the Henderson County Livestock Show, the Athens Booster Club, a 4-H leader and also served on various committees in the City of Athens. Max was listed in the Oklahoma Who’s Who for Teachers. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Athens and enjoyed fishing and working at the Athens Marina after his retirement. Max was a great family man and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Mark Logan.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 41 years Ruth Ann Logan of Athens; son Randy Logan of Athens; brother Jerry Logan and wife Jo of Edmond, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Jennifer Melton and husband Chase, Ryle Logan, Reese Logan, Cody Logan, Kelbie Johnson, Kerbie Logan; five great grandchildren, Harrison Melton, Lauran Melton, Bostie Johnson, Bray Johnson, Lailan Logan and special cousins Sharon and Jimmie Smith.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 6-8 PM at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home
