Mr. Davis went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 28, 2016.

William Baker Davis, JR., 94 of Athens was born on April 10, 1922 in Gandy, Louisiana, son of William Baker Davis, SR. and Mary Emma Lee. He married Wilmoth Emma Bogan on November 30, 1946 and served in the United States Army. He enjoyed yard work, blowing leaves, and was a talented carpenter. William was passionate about serving his country in WWII, telling stories of his service, and being a part of the 222nd Searchlight Brigade stationed in New Guinea. He worked in the CCC after High School until he was drafted. He was a wonderful husband, father, and son who will be missed by all he knew and loved.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Barry and Bruce Davis; several brothers and sisters; and one grandson, Mark Davis.

He is survived by his wife Wilmoth; children, Linda Davis of Athens, Donna Sue Weeks of Nashville, TN, Toney Davis and wife Donna of Warrenton, VA, Jeff Davis and wife Terri of Dill City, OK, Jill Birdwell and husband Bobby of Burns Flat, OK, and June Rose and husband Dennis of Llano, TX; siblings, Frankie Dans and husband Bill of Louisiana, Betty Jean Freeman of Arkansas, and Don Davis and wife Jenny of Louisiana; daughters in law, Trang Davis of San Marcos, TX and Fran Davis-Schmidt of Cordell, OK; 18 grandchildren, Kim, Tracy, Lee, Brandice, K.C., Adam, Mickey, David, Micah, Stephanie, Douglas, Toby, Karli, Jake, Katie Beth, Ginny, Chelsey, and Audrey; numerous great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
