Athens – Funeral services for Mary Louise Arms of Athens are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Athens with Rev. Jason Smith officiating. A graveside service will be held at Restland Cemetery in Dallas at 5:00 P.M. following the service and will be under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Arms went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2017, at the age of 85.

Mary Louise Baker Arms was born January 23, 1932 in Bald Prairie, Texas the daughter of Dessie Earl (White) and Walter Allen Baker. Mary graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1951 and then went to Business School for 1 year and worked at Temco as a Secretary in Industrial Engineering for 2 years. She was married July 18, 1951, to Donald Lee Arms and later became a stay at home mom to their three children. Mary was a long-time resident of Grand Prairie, Texas, where she worked at Grand Prairie State Bank for 17 years and later moved to Athens, Texas where she has lived for 23 years in retirement. She enjoyed sewing, volleyball, cross stitching, oil painting, volunteering in the church nursery, and reading. Whether Mary lived in Grand Prairie or Athens, she and her husband, Don, were always involved in their church. At the time of her death, Mary was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Athens. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded by her four brothers, Allen Baker, Monroe Baker, Onnie Baker and Connie Baker, as well as her sister, Lola Faye Cannady.

Mary is survived by her husband of 65 years as well as their three children, Randy Arms and wife, Diana; Mickey Arms Branum and husband, Rusty; and Mark Arms. Mary was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Stacy Branscum, Chad Branum, Katie Benton, Jessica Hollingsworth and Lyndsey Weaver, as well as 8 great-grandchildren.
