Obituary for Ruby "Muriel" Tapley

Ruby "Muriel"  Tapley
Muriel Tapley, 91, of Montgomery, Texas, formerly of Athens, are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Cemetery.

Ms. Tapley went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 13, 2017 in Conroe, Texas.

Ruby Muriel Brown Tapley was born January 10, 1926 in Athens, Texas the daughter of William Francis “Frank” Brown and Hollie Belle Dowell Brown. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pasadena, Texas and loved spending time with her church and reading her Bible. She played softball in her younger years for her church, but MaMaw was a homemaker first. She spent every waking hour raising her family and took great pride in them. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband J.W. Tapley Jr.; her son Clifford J. Tapley and eight siblings, Lucy Ireland, Buddy Brown, Lonnie Brown, Jeanettie Skinner, Carl Brown, Juanita Cliver, Robert Brown and Francis Blakely.

She is survived by her son Jimmy Tapley and his wife Linda of Montgomery; two grandchildren, Darren Tapley and his wife Suzanne, Darla Tapley and Angela Hyle; four great-grandchildren, Ryan Tapley, Meghan Tapley, Ashlynn Tapley, Avery Tapley and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Darren Tapley, Ryan Tapley, Kenny Tapley, Rickey Tapley, Wade Lawyer and Michael Gandy.

Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
