Athens –Gloria Dickerson, 83, of Athens, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 in Athens.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Gloria Joan Volker Dickerson was born September 3, 1933 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana the daughter of DeWitt McClain Volker and Pearl Leann Gwiff Volker. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word who loved to cook and spend every waking hour raising her family. She loved fishing with her husband, visiting with friends and volunteering at the Hospital. She was a mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband T.D. Dickerson and one brother Quinton Volker.

She is survived by her sons, Danny Dickerson ad wife Suzi of Chandler, Johnny Dickerson and wife Susan of Larue and four grandchildren, Greg Ostermeier and wife Gretchen, Doug Dickerson, Matthew Dickerson and Joseph Dickerson.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
