Obituary for Mary Margaret Fisk (Rogers)

Funeral Services for Mary Rogers Fisk, 82, of Athens are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Chaplain Shane Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.

Ms. Fisk passed away on July 5, 2017 in Athens.

Mary Margaret Rogers Fisk was born February 5, 1935 in Henderson County, Texas the daughter of Eddie Clifton Rogers and Jottie Lee Ward Rogers. She was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Kaufman and retired as a clerk from the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office after 19 years of service. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, volunteered at the Kaufman County Library and at the Mesquite P.T.A., serving as their President and as the secretary during her tenure. She loved scrapbooking, shopping, working puzzles, genealogy and traveling. Nana was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Allan Fisk; three brothers, Ray Rogers, Jim Rogers, Cornell Rogers and one sister Jackie Wilhelm.

She is survived by her two daughters, Donna E. Smith and husband Stephen of Mesquite, Lynn Janicek of Mesquite; two brothers, Bobby Joe Rogers and wife Carolyn of Athens, Roy Acuff Rogers of Athens; three sisters, Elizabeth Boyd and husband L.C. of Athens, Dana Bryant and husband Joe of Malakoff, Marie Weisinger and husband Jerry of Athens; four grandchildren, Russell Smith, Casey Waller and wife Stephanie, Karla Bishop and husband Jack, Keri McCurry and husband Colton; nine great-grandchildren, Justin Smith, Shaun Bishop, Hunter Bishop, Jordan McCurry, Noah McCurry, Jimena Hernandez, Haylee Smith, Chasity Hernandez, Remington Smith and one on the way, Kinley Bishop.

Pallbearers will be Russell Smith, Shaun Bishop, Jack Bishop, Colton McCurry, Rob Weisinger, Darrell Kutcherosky and one Honorary Pallbearer Hunter Bishop.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
