Funeral Services for Meda Dickerson, 89, of Athens are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Pastor Michael Bacon Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery.

Ms. Dickerson took her Heavenly flight on July 23, 2017 in Athens.

Meda Louise Harris Dickerson was born June 25, 1928 in Sabana, Texas the daughter of Jacob Harris and Ruby Wood Harris. She was a devoted wife until her husband Nolan passed from this life in 2007. She was a faithful member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Athens, loved talking about the bible and praying for everyone she met. She was an avid reader and loved to do embroidery. Meemaw was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband Nolen D. Dickerson; a brother Jake Harris; sisters, Josephine Lily, Pauline Bush, Lois McBeth and a great grandson Preston Wayne Beaird.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Wanda Costellow and husband Ray of Athens, Delton Dickerson and wife Annie of Athens, Tina Beaird and husband Wayne of Athens, LaVern Shankles and husband Mike of Duncanville, Golan Dickerson of Athens; one sister Anna Lou Clements and husband Wayne of Salem, Oregon; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and her closest and dearest friend Willie Jo Stephens.

Pallbearers will be Kirk Beaird, Nicolas Preston, Kevin Wayne Dickerson, Matthew Dickerson, Dakota Burleson and Jacob Thomas. Honorary will be Landon Dickerson, Ethan Rivers and Cooper Dickerson.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
