Funeral Services for Stephen Friedrich, 69, of Athens will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Pastor Bob Logan officiating. Intermet will follow at Carrol Springs Cemetery.

Stephen Friedrich passed away December 22, 2017 in Tyler.

Stephen Kerry Friedrich was born July 9, 1948 in Fredericksburg, Texas the son of Karl Friedrich and Nora Susan Welch Friedrich. In his younger years he was an Eagle Scout and spent many years as a Mason. He spent his entire career with the same company Lone Star/ONCOR/TXU/ ATMOS before retiring as a field coordinator after 47 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved golf and hunting. OPA was an amazing family man who spent every extra moment with his wife, children and grandbabies and will be greatly missed by all he knew

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kermit Friedrich.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Doree French Friedrich of Athens; four children, Cody Friedrich and Lori Fetterman of Brownsboro, Cullen Friedrich of Athens, Clay Friedrich and Nikki Radney of Athens, Carter Friedrich and wife Kylie of Athens; two brothers, Kenneth Friedrich and wife Janis of Doss, Dale Friedrich and wife Gladys of Kerrville; one sister-in-law Myrtle Friedrich of Fredericksburg and two grandchildren, Chase and Gage Friedrich.

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 1-2:00 P.M. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
