Patricia Ann "Pat" Murphy (Morse)
Athens – Celebration of Life services are scheduled for Patricia Ann “Pat” Murphy, 85, of Athens, Texas at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Athens. Rev. Faulk Landrum and Rev. Andrew Wolfe will be officiating.

Pat ended her journey to the gates of heaven on Thursday, May 7, 2015 in Tyler, Texas.

Patricia Ann Morse Murphy was born February 11, 1930 in Paris, Texas to Answell Ray Morse, Sr. and Verda Orien Emile Raver. She was a dedicated member of the First Untied Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Crafty Ladies and the Builders Sunday School class. Pat lit up a room with her presence. She was a kind and gentle soul with a loving and generous heart. She always wanted to take care of others. Pat kept her schedule full with church and community activities. She enjoyed attending Fitness Plus Exercise, Athens Little Theater, Wednesday Women’s Card Group and Beta Sigma Phi Service Sorority gatherings. She was a gifted artist and shared many of her beautiful paintings with her family and friends. Pat loved to read and was a wiz at completing her daily crossword puzzle. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family. Pat never wanted to miss any chance of getting to hug and hold her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all she new and loved.

Pat started each day with a quiet time with her Lord and Savior. She read this every morning. “I believe in God and Jesus Christ as I believe in the sun rising, not only because I see it, but because by it’s light, I see everything else.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Answell Ray Morse, Jr. and loving husband Joe Basil Murphy.

She is survived by her children, Joe Mike Murphy and wife Cindy of Athens, Patti Ann Mullen and husband Don of Ft. Worth; three grandchildren, Jennifer Clayton and husband Chet, Joe Seth Murphy and wife Megan, Adele Taveras and husband Anthony and ten great grandchildren, Macy Claire, Hanna Kate, Cale Murphy, Marlee Joe, Claire, Kurt, Sarah, William, David and Benjamin.
