Athens –Memorial services for Michael Wayne Coates, 47, of Athens, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Coates passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015 in Tyler, Texas.
Michael Wayne Coates was born January 14, 1968 in Albuquerque, New Mexico the son of Frances and Mildred Coates. Michael enjoyed his last 20 years in Athens Texas. He was employed by General Casework Installers out of Crossroads, Texas as a crew leader for 13 years. He loved his job and building things with his hands. He was a very talented, creative, and hardworking man. His hobbies included cooking out with friends, riding four-wheelers and spending as much time as he could with his children, family and friends that he loved very much. He was a loving father and brother who will be missed by all he knew and loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frances and Mildred Coates.
He is survived by six children, Cheyenne Trussell, Chelsea Coates, Cody Coates, Christy Coates and their mother Dianna Coates all of Athens, Texas; Michael and Courtney Havens of Albuquerque, New Mexico; five brothers John Coates, Frank Coates, Donald Coates, Duane Buono of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Donovan Baker of Athens, Texas; one sister Donna Coates of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
