I never played in the band, I avoided music appreciation and I don't guess there was ever a class that he taught that I attended but I do not remember knowing Ronnie when I didn't consider him a friend. There are probably a lot of things I could say here and a lot of stories I could tell but I think the thing that most needs to be shared is this: Sometime back while cleaning up around the house I came across a box of letters that I had received from people while I was in the army and there among those letters I was surprised to see one from Ronnie. There is no way of knowing how many kids he interacted with and I'm sure he was more than busy enough but he took the time to write a letter to a kid who had never attended his class to try and ease the pain of loneliness that he knew I was feeling. Rest in peace Ronnie Day and thank you for touching my life.
