Obituary for Braulia Aida Greer (Flores)
Athens – Funeral services for Aida Greer, 78, of Athens, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father Nolan Lowry officiating. Interment will follow at Poynor Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
Aida passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 in Athens.
Braulia Aida Greer was born August 16, 1937 in San Manuel, Texas the daughter of Agustin Flores and Francisca Garza Flores. She was a devout member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church in Athens and stayed strong in her faith. Aida taught ESL and Spanish in schools all over Texas, New Mexico, Illinois, and New Jersey. She especially enjoyed coaching cheer and softball and was quite great at playing softball. She enjoyed swimming and was a huge Lady Cardinals Basketball supporter. Aida was a loving soul, who stayed very close to her friends from all over the U.S. Her true life joy was her grandsons. Aida was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who will be missed by all she knew and loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; Gustavo Flores, Raul Flores, Ramiro Flores, two sisters; Herlinda “Nena” Garza, and Oralia “Lala” Flores.
Aida is survived by her husband Julian Preston Greer of Athens; two daughters Yvette Greer Nunez and Denise Greer Killgore both of Athens; two brothers Lisandro “Chando” and wife Sofia of Edinburg, Joe “Wito” Flores and wife Goldie of Carson City, Nevada; six grandchildren Jeremy Nunez, Michael Nunez, Austin Nunez, Alex Killgore, Jackson Killgore, Beau Killgore.
Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
