Obituary for Ronnie Earl Smith
Funeral Services for Ronnie Smith, 74, of Athens are scheduled for 4:00 P.M. Friday, January 29, 2016 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Erick Graham officiating. Services are under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
Mr. Smith passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in Athens, Texas.
Ronnie Earl Smith was born November 4, 1941 in Athens, Texas the son of Ross H. Smith and Margie Etha Lee Tanner Smith. Ronnie was a hardworking man, dedicating his time to ranching, farming and cattle and was also a member of the Athens Riding Club. He spent most of his life as a contractor for the Texas Department of Transportation. Ronnie was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all he knew and loved. The family would like to give a special thanks to Athens Healthcare and Rehab for the outpouring of love and support.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Helena Reneese Smith.
He is survived by his wife Helen Faye Smith of Athens; one son, Ross Earl Smith and wife Andrea of Harper; one sister, Sylvia Lewis of Athens; nine grandchildren, Mikel Smith, Justin Smith, Cody Smith, Rawlin Smith, Megan Smith, Maria Garcia, Joseph Martinez, Leslie Martinez, Aleandra Martinez; four great grandchildren, Barrett Smith, Emory Hernandez, Avery Hernandez and Sophia Martinez.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Jim Jezek, Joe Godwin, Mikel Smith, Mike Head, Justin Smith, Adrian Hernandez and Cody Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Martinez and Rawlin Smith.
