Athens – Funeral services for Vera “Johnnie” Manning are Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11:00 A.M at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Luke King officiating. There will be a private family graveside held at a later time.

Mrs. Manning went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 23, 2016.

Vera John Arthus Manning was born on May 7, 1932 in Crossroads, Texas the daughter of John Reagan Arthus and Leona Elizabeth Simmons Arthus. She was a homemaker and a Pastors wife for nearly 60 years; last serving with her husband at the Aley Family Worship Center. “Johnnie” spent her life serving her Lord and Savior and was truly a Proverbs 31 woman. She loved her family and friends but loved God the most. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister Geneva Lee Arthus and one brother Loye Arthus.

“Johnnie” is survived by her loving husband of sixty five years “Hamp” Manning of Athens; two loving children, Shawnye King of Gun Barrel City and Skip Manning and wife Nicki of Lumberton; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10-11:00A.M., Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens, Texas.

Pallbearers will include Luke King, Heath King, Blake King, Phillip King, R.J. Brey and Winston Upchurch.
