Betty Marie Searcy of Athens, Texas passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016. Betty was born to Otis and Marie Larreau near Stamford, Nebraska on January 1, 1923. When she was a small child, her family moved to the Sand Hills where Betty was raised and attended school.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, an aunt to many precious nieces and nephews, sister-in-law and friend to many special people.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clifford Woodrow (Woody) Searcy who passed away on July 5, 2010; also sisters Pauline, Joy, Jean, Sonja, brothers Leland, Wesley, Larry and her parents.

Betty is survived by her children Sherry Searcy of Athens, Gayla Morrow and husband Jeff of Dallas and Terry Searcy and wife Karey of Plano; grandchildren Jake Morrow of Dallas and Kyle Morrow of Jackson, MS, Matthew Searcy of Battle Creek, MI, Patrick Searcy of Dallas and Jennifer Searcy of McKinney, TX and Jennifer’s Searcy’s four children, Aubrey, Aislynne, Braedon and Charlotte. Also Betty’s sister Connie & husband Glen Weinman and family of Arnold, NE, Jean’s husband Mike Kirwan and family of Imperial, NE, and Joy Ann Hill’s family of Mesquite, TX, sister Pauline’s two daughters of CA and brother Larry’s daughters in CO, brother Wesley’s widow Dorothy and children of Arnold, NE.

Betty is also survived by Woody’s very special brother and wife Clyde and Nellie Searcy of Nashville, TN and their three sons and families, also families of Woody’s deceased sister Maye of FL and CO, family of deceased brother Bill of FL, deceased brother HB’s family of FL and CO and a special nephew and family of Lee Turner of Columbia, MS. Woody’s family was fantastic to Betty.

Betty’s special friends in Athens include neighbors Jimmie and Rose Jones and Peggy Shannon, Georgia and Jerry Harris and their church family and her “pool” family, as well as many other friends. Betty loved family get-togethers, gardening, her flowers, friends, feeding and watching her birds and reading.

All services will be held at Hannigan Smith, 842 S. E. Loop7, Athens, Texas 75751. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be on Wednesday June 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM with a grave site service afterwards.

Officiating will be her loving son-in-law Jeff Morrow. Pall Bearers will by grandsons Jake and Kyle Morrow, Matthew and Patrick Searcy and James Leslie Jones and Joebe Bias. Honorary Pall Bearers will by Jimmie Jones, Jerry Harris, Dr. Douglas W Curran, MD, Dr. Marcus G. Abadie, MD and Dr. Kenneth Lemmon, MD.
