Obituary for Virginia Lawrence

Virginia Lawrence
On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, Virginia Cooper Lawrence, was called home by our Creator and Almighty Father. There to greet her into Heaven was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, followed by her beloved husband Bill. Beyond that was a legion of dear friends and family.

Known to most of her close friends as “Ginny”, she loved greatly and was greatly loved. Her Children and Grandchildren all had special and unique relationships with her and everyone could make the claim, “I was her favorite”. The things that defined her the most, was her faith in God and her love of family and friends.

Virginia was born in Sachse, Texas on March 11, 1922 to William Boone Cooper and Mabel Charlotte Axe Cooper. She had two sisters and nine brothers.

Mom and Dad worked closely together in real-estate and insurance in their Dallas and Athens offices.
She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Athens, TX. She loved the piano and played faithfully for her Sunday school class and local nursing homes. She enjoyed water aerobics and her monthly lunch bunch group of ladies.

She is survived by her brothers Herbert and Raymond Cooper. Children, Pam Lewis and husband Lee, Bill Lawrence and wife Millie, Roger Lawrence and wife Lisa. Grandchildren, Blake Smith IV, Jill Baker, Nick Lawrence, Boone Lawrence and Chris Lawrence. Six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home, Athens, Texas. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00am at the First United Methodist Church of Athens, Texas. Burial to follow at 3:00 pm at the Restland Memorial Park in Dallas Texas.
