Funeral Services for Jack Allen, 88, of Malakoff are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Bro. Frank Upchurch officiating. Interment will follow at Post Oak Cemetery near Cross Roads.
Mr. Allen went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 19, 2017 in Athens.
Loyd Jackson Allen was born August 17, 1928 in Henderson County, Texas the son of Elijah Parker Allen and Willie Gertrude Rushing Allen. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1951 and was Honorably discharged in 1958 as a Corporal. While serving our Country Jack married the love of his life Mildred Louise Turlington and they settled in the Malakoff area. He was a member of the Body of Christ and enjoyed reading the bible; having just finished reading it for the seventh time, he truly loved his relationship with the Lord. His working career was spent in the Energy and Petroleum industry where he retired as an Assistant Superintendent at Enserch; serving over 40 years. Jack was a huge University of Texas Football fan and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. PaPa’s true joy in life was spending time with his family and he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed by all he knew and loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Edwin Parker Allen, Willie Grace Emerine, Eulan Day Allen and Hulan Ray Allen.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 64 years Mildred “Baby” Allen of Malakoff; three children, Ricky Lynn Allen and wife Lynda of Athens, Brenda Louise Huddleston and husband Scott of Athens, Steven Dewayne Allen and wife Johnnie of Athens; seven grandchildren, Christie Warrick and husband Larry, Ashley Williams and wife Jennifer, Jessica Mendoza and husband Paakal, Natalie Foster and husband Russell, Parker Huddleston, Jenifer Allen, Bret Allen and five great grandchildren, Cody Warrick, Brianna Warrick, Braxton Williams, Zoe Mendoza, Xavi Mendoza and Maddox Foster.
Visitation will be held from 9-10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Bret Allen, Parker Huddleston, Darin Allen, Mark Emerine, Russell Rogers, Ashley Williams, Carman Allen and David Emerine. Honorary Pallbearers will be Benny Rogers, Larry Allen, Sam Ramsey and Wiley Thomas Allen.
